Gwinnett Daily Post: Woodall Hosts Meet and Greet
June 28th 2010

Lawrenceville’s Square was full of politicians Thursday.

Not only were several Lawrenceville council members, a couple of commission candidates and a handful of legislator hopefuls on hand for a rally in opposition to a plan to privatize and expand the Gwinnett County Airport, but a congressional candidate was meeting constituents in a local venue.

Rob Woodall, U.S. Rep. John Linder’s former chief of staff who is hoping to replace his boss in Washington, held a town hall-style meeting at the Singin’ Bean, which overlooked the crowd of 200 at the rally.

In a press release, Woodall’s campaign said the goal was to have a one-on-one discussion on policies such as abolishing federal agencies like the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Energy, as well as health care and immigration reform.

“There are a lot of questions percolating in communities and around dinner tables in the 7th District that require much more than the 60-second answers folks get at a candidate forum,” Woodall said. “Much of the reason that there is such a disparity between Washington, D.C., and the rest of the nation is due to a lack of communication. I am here to facilitate that communication.”

Woodall said he would continue to host meetings like that leading up the July 20 primary.

“It is important that the next representative for the 7th District is available to address the tough questions here at home and take the knowledge gained back to Washington, D.C.,” he said. “The job of your Congressman is to work for you.”
